Disarmed

This is a very personal self portrait of the feelings of the first moments of motherhood, trying to hold onto, and protect this new life that was within, from forces and fears I’d never known to think. Spilling out my whole heart while trying to hold what is most important, even more closely.

The contrast between our natural inclination to nurture and the expectations we face from outside forces forms a mix of different reactions, unique to each individual. This piece has pushed me to question, to reflection, and to endeavor to derive meaning from adversity.
