Footwear Studies

I started sketching shoes as a way to develop my understanding of rendering texture. After a number of drawings, I wanted to dedicate my efforts to a larger project. I bought a new Moleskine, did a lot of planning, and was on my way to create my first collection of 30 drawings: March Forth, Vol. I. 

I started March Fourth on the only day of the year that tells you what to do: March Forth! My intention was to complete the original collection in 30 days—one drawing per day. This was a goal that seemed impossible, and I In the end it took me about 45 days. After completing March Forth, Vol. I, I worked on some additional drawings, before starting March Forth, Vol. II. I feel like these studies really grow some legs in understanding how to draw accurately and render unique textures.
